Circles Anniversary Card 1 by inspiredcreativity Circles Anniversary Card 1 by inspiredcreativity
Download to see full size and detail.

I made this Anniversary Card for my partner in 2003. I couldn't decide on keeping the path lines visible, so I made one with and one without. The original file is in InDesign.

The Lines of Text say:
    The Circle of Life
    The Stream of Time
    The Circle of Our Love
    The Circle of Our Dreams
    Matthew Loves Greg
    Greg Loves Matthew
The Text Inside The Card Says:
My Dearest Greg,
As we travel along the path of time,
my love for you grows evermore stronger.

With all my Love,
Matthew

How about making the paths half-transparent? Like 50% give or take? I don't know. Maybe 30%. That might look good too :)

That is certainly a worthy idea. Does that mean you like having the lines there, but better dimmed, or do you favor no lines at all? Informal survey. lol

I like both, but I just wonder how it'd look with them not clashing so much with the letters, making them easier to read but still with the paths. I like the way the paths look but with both the letters and the paths black... It makes it a bit more difficult to look at. I can't put it in words properly, english isn't my native language. But I don't think I could say it properly in my native language either, so it was pointless mentioning this, no? :Ð

Well, so basically I like the lines but better dimmed, yes. I just have a habit of going roundabout ways of saying things.

Your English is very good and I understand you Ok.

I was in a rush to finish it before my partner got home. If I had put more time into it, the tracking of the text on each path could be adjusted so that that no letters or paths would actually cross over each other.

So more time could make it better. Also, better font choices could be made. I have almost 4,000 fonts and did not have time to to do my typical comparisons.

Ghosting the path lines (dimming them) would be a good compromise between the two versions.

Did you get a chance to look at the larger Download size? When it is printed out in full resolution on Gloss or semi-gloss paper, it is much easier to read.

But it is the sentiment that counts right? Love as circles with circles, crossing the path of time.

I am unable to fix it now.

It's always the sentiment that counts :) Circles never end. Keep on going and going...

4000 fonts... Wowsers! That's a lot of fonts. No idea how many I have, and I haven't been downloading much. But they're only about 100, 200...

Yup, I really like the concept of your image and it's very, very sweet and touching. Just wanted to add my 2 cents, you know? :Ð

You will learn how easy it is to create a vector path and slave text along its path in any shape you want.

I am into typography and have typeset two books. For me, type has a beauty and it has the ability to set mood and tempo in your designs, and can become the art.

As a Graphic Designer, type becomes a big part of your life, because it is all about communicating. Most Graphic Design has some sort of type element, but of course, not all do.
